Sports Broadcaster & Deejay

About Me

Born and raised in the State of Hockey, this Minnesota girl is living the dream!

Since 2007, I have been the radio play-by-play voice of Bemidji State University women's college hockey on the Beaver Radio Network. In 2014, I had the honor of doing the play-by-play for the WCHA Final Face-Off webcast. Beginning with the 2016-17 women's college hockey season, I voiced the weekly radio program "This Week in the Women's WCHA" for college hockey's premiere women's league.

When I was a little girl, my dream job was to be a sports broadcaster. My mom and I rarely missed listening to the Minnesota Twins radio broadcasts. She was the biggest influence when it came to my love of sports. We spent many winter nights watching North Stars hockey games on TV and I never missed a Minnesota High School Boys Hockey Tournament game on TV. Of course, my dad and I never missed a Vikings game on TV either. He was the football fan at our house.

On Sunday, October 6, 2018 my dream becomes a reality when I broadcast my first NWHL game as the "Voice of the Minnesota Whitecaps." I'll be the Whitecaps' home play-by-play announcer during their inaugural season in the National Women's Hockey League.

It was in 1993 that I decided to pursue a career in broadcasting. I have been working full-time in radio broadcasting since 2000 and have been employed by the Beaver Radio Network, a subsidiary of RP Broadcasting in Bemidji, Minnesota since 2007.

During the week, I host "Pepsi's Lunchtime Cafe with Kel" on Babe Country 98.3 WBJI FM from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and every Sunday afternoon, I'm on WMIS FM 92.1 "The River" from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. During the BSU sports season, I co-host a weekly sports talk show "The Go Green Mill Coaches Show" from the Green Mill in Bemidji every Wednesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In my spare time, I enjoy sewing and designing. I am a self-taught milliner, seamstress and costume designer. Some of my favorite projects include making prom dresses, Halloween costumes, cosplay, and creating fascinators and hats.

I have lived in Bemidji, Minnesota with my husband Brian since 2004 when he was hired by RP Broadcasting to be the radio play-by-play announcer for BSU football and men's hockey. We have a 4-year-old English Cocker Spaniel named Stark.
